Lesson Plan
Merge science and art in this lesson which gets children thinking about imaginative sculpture using outdoor materials whilst using shadows cast by their bodies as part of the art work!
Years: 1, 2
Duration: 60mins
Curriculum Objectives: 3
Subjects: Art, Science
Using the incredible Andrew Goldsworthy as inspiration; this lesson encourages children to use natural materials for sculptural purposes. As an added bonus, the children need to learn how to cast a shadow with their own bodies as part of the art work. By bringing science and art together the children are encouraged to be creative and exploratory whilst seeing natural resources in a whole different 'light' (boom tish!)
The lesson could also work for KS2 especially if the science content was brought to the fore.
