Sustainable Shaun: Energy Crisis!

SS Energy Crisis.jpg

Age: Year 3, 4, 5 & 6

Duration: 30 minutes

Subject:  Cross Curricular

Theme: Energy

Use our Sustainable Shaun game (specifically Energy Crisis!) as inspiration for a starter activity with your class; exploring how cities can use renewable energy to provide the electricity needs of the population.

In the game, it's the final episode of the pigeons' favourite TV show and the city doesn't have enough power to meet demand. Children will work through the mission on this free online game to build their own wind turbines from junk. They will also need to take into account that some residents may not like wind turbines, introducing the idea of the Not In My Back Yard (NIMBY) phenomenon.

This mission is a fantastic way to introduce our Wind Farm Debate lesson as well as an opportunity to look at how students can build their own wind turbines and assess the efficiency in their designs.
