Plastic Free Beauty Day

17th June 2020

Event Overview

The UN has predicted that if the rate of waste production continues, by 2050 our oceans will carry more plastic than fish and an estimated 99 per cent of seabirds will have ingested plastic. The UN also declared our current situation a planetary crisis. The Beauty industry and its contribution to this MUST make a change. We are calling all brands, consumers and retailers to JOIN US and reconsider their use of plastic, whether it be virgin, recycled or reclaimed from the sea because the problem is that it ends up back in the sea or landfill which makes the type of plastic irrelevant. There is no such thing as good plastic.

Every year on the 17th of June we aim to educate consumers on the issues around the misconceptions around recycled plastics, that this is only delaying the problem for future generations.

Collecting beauty waste and packaging throughout the day, to promote and showcase how brands, retailers and consumers alike can make small changes to make a big difference. We’ll showcase how to make informed choices, choosing more sustainable materials, such as aluminium that can be recycled on an infinite loop.
