Pancake Day, or Shrove Tuesday, is the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday and is usually celebrated by the cooking of pancakes! Pancakes are associated this day because they were a way to use up rich foods such as eggs, milk, and sugar, before the fasting season of the 40 days of Lent, getting rid of any food waste. We have created some inspiring food related resources ranging from a packaging challenge perfect for a DT lesson to pumpkin growing in Bangladesh, from a lesson looking at snacks and covering much of the science curriculum to one exploring food miles as part of a series of lessons looking at real world maths. So whether you like pancakes or not there's bound to be something here to tickle your fancy!
