National Marine Week
National Marine Week is The Wildlife Trust's nationwide celebration of all things marine. Despite the name, it lasts 15 fun-filled days to allow for the variation in tide times around the country. During this time, Wildlife Trusts all around the UK put on a jam-packed programme of events and activities... including inland! This year may be slightly different, due to the Covid-19 crisis. Their website will be continually updated as National Marine Week gets closer.
There are loads of great tips on how you can help keep the marine world safe and sound:
- Pick up litter
- How to use less plastic
- Watch what you wash down your plugs and drains
- Want to get crafty? Upcycle an old bottle - make a bottle basking shark
You don't even have to venture out of your garden to help the terrestrial environment:
- Create a herb garden for wildlife
- Create a vertical garden
- Plant flowers for bees and pollinators
- Build a pond
- Make a minibeast village
Share what you love about the sea using #NationalMarineWeek on Twitter and Instagram. The Wildlife Trust would love to hear all about your favourite marine wildlife, the actions you take to help our sea life, and what the sea means to you. And of course lots of fabulous photos of you enjoying our incredible coasts and spectacular seas!
