Make Music Day UK 2020

21st June 2020

Event Overview

Music Day is a connected set of free public events which takes place each year on the 21st June, our midsummer. It celebrates music in all its forms and the impact it's had on the world and the human spirit. One of the best lessons to teach outside, music gives the pupils a chance to express themselves outside the four walls of the classroom and the chance for you, the teacher, to protect your ears!

PERFORM - bringing a new meaning to the term house music!  For 2020, we are asking everyone taking part to stream their performances using the abundance of technology we all have access to and to share the joy of music with your community online.  From simply playing some songs or joining in with a Virtual Choir to pulling together a one-off family band, there are lots of opportunities for us all to come together and to enjoy sharing music on one day.

Check out the Live Streaming Toolkit for a simple guide on streaming your music. Keep an eye out for some online marketing materials to help you tell all your friends what you’re doing. List your event so that more people can find your performance – you could even end up on the official live stream, Make Music Day UK Live!

You can list your event on the website and tag #MakeMusicDayUK on social media so your performance will be promoted!

CREATE - it's not just about live music!

Not everyone wants to put on a show, but that doesn't mean you can't take part.  There are lots of projects you can join in with to feel the magic of music - click here for more details.
