International Day for Biological Diversity
Biodiversity is just another way of describing the variety of life on Earth. Find out more about diverse ecosystems with one of these exciting lessons - perhaps you could visit the coast or download iNaturalist and get identifying as part of a Bioblitz? Or maybe you would like to be more focused in the creatures you investigate. For example, did you know there are more than one million insect species in the world – from fleas that can jump 200 times their body length to houseflies that taste with their fee? So it's no wonder they provide an infinite source of fascination for so many children. As any bug hunt in your school grounds will testify, they are a great way of learning about habitats, classification, animal conservation and nature. This lesson is wonderfully practical, based outdoors and encourage children to look closely at insects with a new fascination.
