International Children's Book Day
Get your pupils inspired by good books on International Children's Book Day! Organised by the International Board on Books for Young People, this event promotes children's literature in all its forms. Since 1967, on or around Hans Christian Andersen's birthday, 2 April, International Children's Book Day (ICBD) has been celebrated to encourage a love of reading in young people, and to call attention to children's books. Our The Last Wild resources, based on the award-winning novels by Piers Torday, are a great place to start, alternatively use the well loved story, We're Going on a Bear Hunt, to build confidence in descriptive language. Best introduced in a wonderful sensory environment such as a woodland, shore line or meadow, this lesson will encourage children to broaden their descriptive language and confidence as story tellers and story writers.
