British Food Fortnight 2020
Held in the autumn at the same time as harvest festival, British Food Fortnight is the biggest annual, national celebration of British food and drink. It was established in the wake of the Foot and Mouth crisis, in response to the fact that, though there are numerous food initiatives, projects and events taking place across Britain, there was no overall flagship event to bring them to the public's attention.
For schools, this is a wonderful opportunity to cook using unfamiliar foods or perhaps vegetables you have grown, or start your vegetable garden by growing some potatoes, or ask the caterers who provide the food for your staff or school restaurant if they will consider serving distinctly-British produce. This could take the form of a special seasonal section on the menu. Alternatively, perhaps run food-related activities during the Fortnight; we have loads (92 to be precise) of food-related resources - check them out!
